Guidry-Coastal Architecture, Inc.

Architecture has always been considered the science, art or profession of designing and constructing buildings, but when all these elements are combined, result in one very powerful force. This has been the path Sam Guidry has chosen to develop through-out his long career. Sam was born and raised in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Louisiana, at Lafayette, school of Architecture and Design.  After graduating with honors, Sam worked for several prominent firms such as, Desmond-Meirmont  Architects and Engineers, O'rouke-Gossen and Associates Architects, and Harold L. Thompson and Associates, in the Lafayette and Baton Rouge areas. He was involved in numerous educational, commercial, institutional, medical, religious, retail, residential and multi-family projects.

Sam served in the United State Navy as a commissioned officer in the Civil Engineer Corps. His training at the Naval Civil Engineer Corps Facilities, Port Hueneme, California included military construction management, estimating, contract administration (Con 234), hazardous material transportation and military combat operations with the Seabees.

In 1990, Sam partnered with Architects  to form Barker/Guidry Architects Inc. (BGA). As Senior Principal and chief project designer he played an important role in the development and revitalization of downtown Wilmington, NC. Notable projects included: the Water Street Center Downtown Development Project, (Twelve Story-46,000 sq. ft.), Wrightsville Baptist Church Renovation, (12,000 sq. ft.),  Front Street Brewery, (12,000 sq. ft.), and Alliegh’s Restaurant, (32,000 sq. ft.).  In addition he designed many residences in the Landfall and Figure Eight Island Development Communities.

Sam was involved as Architectural Director in the preparation, master planning and review of several large scale single-family and multi-family neighborhoods.  He worked closely with developers, land sales, real estate brokers and marketing staff to enhance their knowledge of the architectural and planning process.  Please visit the pages below for a more comprehensive look at each project.

A very important standard of practice was developed by Sam through his combination of Architectural and Engineering experience. This combination of both artistic talent and engineering background he received in the navy, a strong work ethic was formed. Through these endeavors he has developed a new Architectural practice, Guidry-Coastal Architecture Inc., (G-CA) founded in 2005, is a multidisciplinary firm offering architecture, planning, interior design and graphics services through out the Carolinas. G-CA’s projects are noted for their combination of outstanding artistry and engineering design.
